Airport Fun

And by fun, I clearly mean the opposite.  Yesterday I was supposed to fly back to Cedar Rapids from Denver.  Because that is when they opened campus up again, with class starting what is now today.

Well. I got up nice and early, as the sun was getting up. Got to the airport.  Waited in line to check my baggage, etc.  Everything is going smoothly.  Oh wait, what's that?  My flight has been delayed?  Oh.  Okay.  I can go with that.  I should have gotten the foreshadowing from talking to the people who were supposed to fly back to Witchita the day before.  Their flight had gotten canceled.  As they pushed the time back first another half and hour, then all the way to noon (I was supposed to take off around 10am).  I started getting nervous. Sure enough, around 11:30 they informed us that our flight had been canceled.  Go figure.  And all the flights on Sunday were completely booked.

They rolled me on to a flight to Chicago with a connecting flight to Cedar Rapids the next day (today), but of course, because it was canceled due to weather (fog, apparently . . . ) they wouldn't get me a hotel.  So I ended up getting my parents to book me a hotel, and I took the shuttle there.  My mother soon joined me.  This after waiting in line to figure out what was going on, then waiting to get a discount on a hotel, then eating because by then it was 2:30 or 3 in the afternoon.  Then my baggage came.  Probably about an hour, maybe a bit more, from when I requested it back.

Okay.  So, today, I wake up at 4:20 in the morning . . . There are some nights when that is my bed time.  I went to DIA and went to my gate to get my seat assigned because they had overbooked the flight.  I felt very out of place.  Pretty much the entire flight was filled with business men and women, all of whom of course brought carry on.  But there is someone else from Cornell there. (Thank goodness, as you will see.  Just having someone else there is fantastic.)  We find our way to the gate, and while he is going to get some food, my dad calls and tells me that online says that they canceled the Cedar Rapids flight.  Oh Shit.  Just about as I hung up, Keith, the other person from Cornell, comes up and tells me that it is canceled.

Riiiight.  So then we both went and stood in line at Customer Service.  For two and a half hours.  I was just trying to get my luggage back.  When I get up there, the lady says that I have to pick it up in Cedar Rapids.  That or wait 4-6 hours for them to try and find it.  Oh, and I should go to.  This being O'hare airport . . . . Yea.  Right. This is after, of course, I've arranged for a friend of mine (Sarah! and Joe!) to come pick me up from the airport, and by this time, it should be about 3 hours before they get here.

So Keith and I wander over to baggage claim, where I can't find the desk.  We eventually did, but after my mother so graciously called United and got them to send my luggage to me.  When they find it, that is.  You see, according to the lady on the phone, who had a very strong Indian accent, its current status is "lost" in O'hare airport.  Oh, lovely.  Isn't that fan-freaking-tastic.

Sweet.  So now I'm sitting here waiting for my boyfriend and my friend, who are driving my car, to come pick us up.

Lovely, don't you think? I just can't even say how much fun I've had.

EDIT:

So. My friend Joe is pretty much letting me use his computer on a daily basis. Just means I'm not going to be on any of my instant messengers any time soon. I'm going to be sending it out. But I haven't yet, cuz I have to wait for them to send me the box first. Yea. Le sadface.

kEnd.

I have nothing more to say.

So.  I just realized that I hadn't posted anything on here since I came to college.

(Yes, for those of you who didn't know, I am in college now.  Cornell College, to be exact).  I'm actually really enjoying it for the most part.  Yea, sure I miss all of my people.  (Sarah's here -- yay!-- but I miss my other friends back home a lot).  But I've also met tons of new people and have (hopefully) made some good friends.

I'm really liking the block schedule, actually. It works right with my brain: concentration on a single subject for 3.5 weeks.  It just works.  The work load can be kinda intense sometimes.  But I'm alright with that.  I don't have to worry about not doing the homework from another class or which test to study for (if I do indeed study.  Which I usually don't.)  I do have to say that I do still procrastinate though.  If anything, its easier to do here because I don't have to worry about my parents and waking them up and if I'm going to go hang out with friends, most of the them live in the same building as me.  If not: 5 min walk, max.

I dunno.  I'm sure I have more to say, I just am not saying it right now.  Maybe I'll even get on an do another update tomorrow *gasp*

Even though there's probably not anyone reading this anymore since I haven't updated in so long.

Oh well.

TO GAME NIGHT! Wee.

Surprisingly accurate....

You Are a Log Ride
You prefer to live a fairly calm, relaxed life... with a few surprises thrown in.
You don't tend to get yourself worked up easily. You can roll with what life throws at you.
In relationships, you are steady and solid. You maintain a pretty broad perspective on what's going on.
That's not to say you can't get swept away. You're emotions run as deep as anyone else's.

Your life seems like it has been remarkably easy so far. But that's due to how you manage it.
You never stretch yourself too thinly, and you think out your decisions carefully.
Taking the time to enjoy each day is important to you, and you don't let your emotions rule you.
You stay the course and do what's right... knowing it will all work out in the end.

At your best, you are tolerant and understanding of other people's quirks.
You take "go with the flow" to the extreme. Even if you don't like where you're going.
At your worst, you repress your feelings and end up being a little tightly wound.
You definitely have some explosive emotions that occasionally come to the surface!
